| Free Consultation Session The first session is free and is used to determine if there is a clinical match between the individual and the therapist. If we both decide to continue with counseling some paper work will be completed, fees will be established and schedule will be determined. Sliding Fee Scale Sliding Fee Scale is based on income and ability to pay. Sometimes Churches/Synagogues/Mosques will supplement the counseling fees of their members. Check with your religious leader/faith community to see if funds are available. Many businesses provide financial resources for counseling/therapy. Your Human Resources department can give you information about the financial resources available to you. **CHECK WITH YOUR TAX ACCOUNTANT ABOUT DEDUCTING THERAPY COSTS AS AN UN- REIMBURSED MEDICAL EXPENSE. Insurance Managed care can be a confusing arena. Due to patient privacy regulations insurance companies no longer disclose benefits information to third parties. As a result, therapists are unable to call insurance companies to verify mental health coverage. It is your responsibility to verify your mental health benefits and coverage with your insurance plan. You need to contact your insurance company and ask who handles their mental health benefits. Many insurance plans have restricted provider lists, and you don't get to choose your therapist. Many plans have out-of-network benefits for therapists outside of their “network�. I am willing to work with you as you work with your insurance company to determine whether your sessions are covered by your mental health benefits plan. If you have PPO insurance coverage, there is a good chance that you can obtain partial reimbursement for these services. Paying on a cash basis offers several advantages * You pick your therapist, with no interference from your insurance company. * Unlimited number of sessions. Come in as often as you like. * Complete confidentiality, private information isn't written in your medical record with your insurance company. * Flexibility in treatment approaches, no case manager is controlling treatment.
