About Me:
I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and offer psychotherapy services to individuals,
couples, families and adolescents. I earned my MA in Clinical Psychology from Antioch University – Los
Angeles. My diverse background and wealth of experience comes from working as a Therapist,
Chaplain/Pastor, and Spiritual Counselor in CA, MN & TX. In addition to my degree in Clinical
Psychology, I hold a Masters Degree in Philosophy/Theology from WTS, Dubuque, IA. I also work with
the Adult Outpatient Program at Sharp Mesa Vista Psychiatric Hospital and have extensive experience
with chronic mental illness.
Currently I serve as President of the San Diego Chapter of CA Marriage & Family Therapists, as well as
a clinical member of the State CAMFT Organization. I am also a clinical member of AAMFT - American
Association of Marriage & Family Therapists. I am affiliated with the ELCA and on the clergy roster of
the Sierra Pacific Synod of the ELCA. In San Diego, I am a member of the Greater San Diego Business
Association (GSDBA). Click here to verify my license with the CA Board of Behavioral Sciences.
My philosophy and therapeutic orientation are an eclectic integration of a variety of counseling theories:
Humanistic-Existential, Cognitive-Behavioral, Psycho-dynamic, Narrative, Solutions Focused. These
methods, as well as others are used as the basis for counseling to promote and encourage growth
through increased self-awareness, enhanced relationships, expression of feelings, purposeful living,
effective communication, conflict resolution and spiritual growth.
I see the purpose of therapy as the process of empowering individuals, couples, adolescents, and
families to grow and nurture various aspects of their lives. I use an approach that is caring and
empathic. I am dedicated to helping clients discover their potential as human beings through the
integration of mind, body & spirit. My therapeutic focus includes: relationships & intimacy,
depression, anxiety, crisis intervention, post-traumatic stress, anger management, thought disorder,
spirituality, chronic illness, terminal disease, bereavement, LGBT issues, HIV/AIDS, life & career
transitions, communication, managing stress, time mastery, setting and maintaining priorities, etc.
